As for election forecasts, ICONIC collected and analyzed electoral research data before and after Trump’s contract with Covid-19, and before and after the first presidential debate. Pre-selected search terms have been tested in the last three presidential elections as well as in eight different European and Australian elections.

ICONIC claims that using Google data allows the model to circumvent the flaws inherent in traditional polls and surveys. Typical flaws include unresponsiveness bias, voter shyness, and the difficulty in determining the correct proportions of voters, as small differences can lead to large differences in election expectations.

The breakdown of marriage offers has been relatively easier to understand and validated by a variety of related search terms. Christmas shopping is expected to be influenced by the growth in online sales, but with some interesting shifts.
